In this survey, we will be asking you about your favorite music genres. We hope that you will take the time to fill out this survey so that we can learn more about your musical preferences.
What is music?
Music is sound that has been organized in time. People have always made music. The first music may have been made by scraping two pieces of wood together or by banging rocks. Today, people use all kinds of instruments to make music, from flutes and guitars to drums and pianos. Some people even use their bodies to make music, by clapping their hands, for example.
The different types of music
There are many genres of music, some of which are: rock, pop, classical, jazz, country, and blues. Each genre has sub-genres. This can make it difficult to define what genre a piece of music belongs to.
Different people have different favorite genres of music. Some people like to listen to multiple genres, while others prefer just one or two. There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to what genre(s) of music you like – it is entirely up to your personal preference!
The history of music

It developed from roots in blues and ragtime, and features syncopated rhythms, polyphonic ensemble playing, varied pitch levels, improvisation, and often deliberate distortions of pitch and timbre.
Classical Music: Classical music is a genre of Western art music that emerged in Europe during the Middle Ages and continued to develop through the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Modernist, and contemporary eras. It is associated with Western classical tradition, symphony orchestras, opera houses, concert halls, ballet companies
Music in the modern day
There are so many different genres of music out there, and new ones are being created all the time. It can be hard to keep up with all of them! But that’s part of the beauty of music--there’s always something new to discover.

For me, I enjoy a lot of different genres of music depending on my mood. I really like pop and R&B for when I want to feel happy and upbeat. But I also enjoy mellower genres like indie pop and singer/songwriter music when I’m in a more reflective mood.
